No petroleum shortage in Karachi: PSO

Deputy General Manager PSO says petrol is available at all PSO stations in the metropolitan city

KARACHI: Deputy General Manager Pakistan State Oil (PSO) Maryam Shah has said there is no petroleum shortage in Karachi and that petrol is available at all PSO stations in the metropolitan city, Radio Pakistan reported on Tuesday.

"People should not panic about the shortage of petrol in the city," Shah told APP.

She added 12 other oil marketing companies are also operating besides PSO.

Just yesterday, Petroleum Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi accepted responsibility for the acute petrol shortage in Punjab, even as his colleague Ishaq Dar, the finance minister, cleared himself of blame while terming the shortages a “conspiracy” against the government.

At a news conference in Islamabad, Dar admitted that the crisis was the result of the government’s mismanagement, becoming the second prominent cabinet member in two days to accept the government’s role in causing the shortages of petrol.

Earlier, Prime Minister Nawaz had also summoned a meeting on fuel shortage and suspended four officials over the petrol shortage in the country.
