Constant vigilance: Emergency drills conducted at school

RAJANPUR/ MULTAN: Police on Saturday conducted a mock exercise to cope with any emergency situation at DPS School in Rajanpur on Saturday. DCO Ghazi Amanullah monitored the exercise while Border Military Police Commandant Imran Munir and officials of Civil Defence were also participated in the drill. A fake bomb was exploded in the school to check response of concerned departments. The bomb disposal squad, police, Rescue 1122 and officials of the Health Department reached the site immediately put out the ‘fire’ and killed the ‘terrorists’ and shifted the injured to the hospital. Munir said told newsmen that such exercises were needed in the wake of the attack in Peshawar on December. “We must always remain vigilant.” In Multan, a workshop on safety and security measures of schools and colleges of was held at the arts council on Saturday. Addressing participants, District Coordination Officer (DCO) Zahid Saleem Gondal said that in line with the directions of the Punjab government, all possible security measures were being taken at educational institutes. He said the workshop was organized to guide administrations of schools and colleges about these security measures.
