RAWALPINDI: Dr Khalid, who had been convicted for his involvement in an assassination attempt on former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf, was hanged in Adiala jail in Rawalpindi on Friday evening, Express News reported.
His execution comes after the government had lifted a moratorium on executions of terrorists in the country.
Late last month, Dr Usman, a former soldier of the army’s medical corps and the mastermind of the attack on the Pakistan Army headquarters in 2009, and Arshad Mehmood, convicted for the assassination attempt on Musharraf were executed in Faisalabad.
Days after that, four prisoners were executed at the tightly guarded Faisalabad jail for their role in the Musharraf attack.
On December 31, 2014, Niaz Muhammad, convicted of orchestrating the murder attempt on Musharraf, was executed at Peshawar Central Jail.

Most of those hanged for attempt to assassinate Musharraf were also involved in other deadly terrorist activities. These cases were in civilian courts for long but as usual remained pending.
A fall guy has been executed in the stage-managed Musharraf "assassination plot". The assassination drama very likely orchestrated by the Establishment agencies to convince the West that Mush was indeed fighting the terrorists and not playing double-games as many in the West were reporting.

@Parvez: This is because these are the people who were sentenced by the military courts. Civilian courts are just dragging their feet with appeals after appeals.

Parvez - The ones getting hanged for trying to assassinate Musharraf were sentenced by Army courts. Their cases can't be appealed in civilian courts. Hence, you see speedy hangings as soon as moratorium was lifted. The others are mostly convicted in civilian courts and those courts are currently busy in either halting their hangings, allowing appeals, or outright releasing them as innocents for either 'insufficient proofs' or because the victim's families are 'pardoning' them.
i have no mercy on any terrorist who had killed innocent people in Pakistan.
Had Dr. Khalid and his accomplices would have succeeded in their nefarious agenda, today Gen. Musharraf would have been not among us.

Apparently in Pakistan terrorist means "only such people who attacked or were involved in the attack on Musharraf".
Are there no other terrorists....apart from those involved with the Musharraf affair ?
