Murder probe: ‘Slain LESCO officer had received threats’

A Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) sub-divisional officer (SDO) who was murdered on Friday in Millat Park was buried in Pindi Bhattian on Saturday.


A police official told The Express Tribune early investigation had revealed that Rai Ziad Kharal had received life threats from unidentified people on Tuesday.

He was on his way home in his official car when unidentified motorcyclists fired at him near Scheme Mor and fled.

He later died at Shaikh Zayed Hospital. One of Kharal’s colleagues said he had requested some senior Lesco officers to transfer some meter readers.

He said Kharal had strained relations with some meter readers.

Investigation SSP Abdul Rab said Kharal’s family had said he had no rivalry. He said police would trace the suspects soon.
