FAISALABAD: The Pakistan Yarn Merchants Association (PYMA) has urged the government to take initiative by announcing a proactive economic plan to steer the country out of the current situation by bolstering trade and industrial activities to promote and strengthen exports.

PYMA Central Chairman Khalil Qaisar Shamas Guccha and Zonal Chairman Adnan Zahid Butt said the government should announce a forward-looking economic plan to boost business, trade and industrial activity.

Substantiating their argument, they said that presently an atmosphere of awe and fear was prevailing among the public and business community over the expected backlash and the government needs to take measures to sustain the confidence.

They requested that the economic plan could provide direction and assistance to business, industry and exports, enabling them to cut cost of production and become competitive in the international market against regional countries as well as to gain optimum benefit of GSP Plus facility granted by the European Union.

In this context, they appreciated the reduction in petroleum and electricity prices and hoped that the requested economic plan initiative would serve as a driving force to promote and strengthen the business activity in the country in the wake of the end of sit-ins and protests in the country.
