PCB issues show-cause notice to Afridi among others

International cricketers had appeared in an ad without permission

KARACHI: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has issued show-cause notice to five of its international players, including Shahid Afridi, for featuring in a commercial without taking permission from the board.

It should be mentioned here that Afridi, Muhammad Irfan, Fawad Alam, Anwar Ali and Wahab Riaz appeared in an advertisement for Haier, the main sponsors for the home series against Australia and New Zealand, which were played in the UAE.

Afridi had recently announced that he will retire from ODIs after the 2015 World Cup as he wants to walk away during his peak form.

“The board has issued show-cause notices to the five players who appeared in the ad without permission,” a PCB official told The Express Tribune.

“We’ll wait for their explanations and then it will be decided whether any action should be taken against them or not.”

PCB should try to stand behind their players firmly. BCCI always protect its players even the most undisciplined.

utterly ridiculous !!! are they school children? instead of formulating some real laws to protect the players, pcb is indulging in stupid power play
