ISLAMABAD:

Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rashid said on Thursday the tragic incident of Peshawar showed that in times of adversity the nation had once again risen above all divides and stood united.

Addressing police officers and participants of a training course on counter-terrorism strategic communication and media engagement, he said: “We will never allow or tolerate terrorists to dictate their terms or endanger the life and property of the people of Pakistan.”

The minister said that Pakistan had been a victim of terrorism for the last 13 years. Over 50,000 people, including members of armed forces, law enforcement agencies and innocent civilians, have lost their lives. Their blood would not go in vain, he vowed. “We will not rest till this evil is uprooted.”

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government, he said, came to power with the pledge that it would eliminate terrorism, improve economy and overcome energy crisis in the country.

He said the government takes the issue of terrorism seriously and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif sincerely made an effort and initiated dialogue process with the so-called Taliban.
