Targeted: Three injured in IED attack in Bannu

IED was detonated through a remote device, injuring two civilians and a security official.

BANNU/ CHARSADDA:


Three people including a security official were injured in an improvised explosive device (IED) attack in Saddar, Bannu on Tuesday.


An official of Saddar police, Iftikhar Ali Shah said the incident occurred on Bannu-DI Khan Road where unidentified militants had parked a bomb-strapped motorbike near the district food department’s warehouse. It was detonated through a remote device, injuring two civilians and a security official.


An official of the security forces said convoys heading towards North Waziristan Agency usually pass by the busy area which is a hotspot for targeted attacks. Heavy contingents of police rushed to the site after the blast. The injured were shifted to District Headquarters Hospital, Bannu.


The injured civilians were identified as Javaid and Noor Alam while the security official was identified as Ansar. A security forces pickup and two passenger vehicles were also partially damaged.


Suspected militant held

A suspected militant was detained during a raid in Majoki, Charsadda. A senior official of Charsadda police said a house was raided by security agencies during the wee hours of Tuesday morning. The detainee, identified as Muhammad Daud, was shifted to an unknown location.
