Model UN: Students hold exclusive Q&A session with diplomats

The second day of the Millenial Model United Nations commences.

The second day of the Millenial Model United Nations commenced on Wednesday with moderation of mock UN sessions by ambassadors Argentina Afghanistan and Palestine, among other senior diplomats.


A series of meaningful debates marked the agenda; from the crises in the Middle East and Afghanistan to other global issues, said a press release.. The moot had aimed at involving both students and ambassadors on one platform to talk about international conflict and agendas.

Chaudhary Faisal Mushtaq, chief executive of Roots Millennium Schools, said the interactive session with ambassadors enlightened and motivated the youth.

Umer Baber,a  student, questioned the deputy head of Sri Lankan mission about their efforts to ensure free travel to Sri Lanka. In reply, the diplomat dwelled upon her government’s reforms to facilitate the travel process for foreigners and shed light on how these reforms were making it easier for foreigners, especially those from neighboring countries, to obtain visas.

Another student, Daud Shehzad, asked Argentine Ambassador Rodolfo J Martin Saravia about new relationships his country was making with the international community to which the envoy informed him of recent advances the country had made to establish new ties with other nations.

Saihaan Khan asked the Afghan ambassador about the exit of US-led international forces from his country and the ability of the Afghan army to maintain stability. The ambassador replied saying the Afghan army had been trained by the international security assistance force and was capable to handling security issues.

At the conclusion of the event, the ambassadors commended the detailed observation skills of the student body
