Red carpet round-up: AMAs 2014

Let’s see what the stars donned on at the bash

UMNIA SHAHID November 24, 2014

Sporting some of the finest ensembles, the hottest celebs in Tinseltown hit the red carpet at the 42nd American Music Awards (AMAs) at Nokia Theatre, Los Angeles. From daring designs to sunny silhouettes, there was a gamut of styles, some of which bombed at, and some, dominated the event. Let’s see what the stars donned on at the bash.

Julianne Hough

The Dancing with the Stars beauty sizzled in an orange racer back gown with an intricately beaded design by Zuhair Murad. This electric number featured a tall leg slit, which accentuated her toned pins, and triangular cut-outs at the neckline that added drama to the outfit. A Lee Savage rose-gold clutch, Jacqui Aiche jewellery and Tamara Mellon heels completed her look. The blonde-haired beauty looked sensational with her grey smokey eye, peachy cheeks and luminous complexion. We love the look from head to toe.

Fergie

The powerhouse singer showed a bit of skin in a sleeveless black dress that featured a gold belt and an alluring thigh-grazing slit. She paired her figure-hugging Halson dress with fierce accessories, including Versus ankle-strap heels and a serpentine ring. The gold belt cinched her waist, while a modern take on the gladiator sandal finished the sizzling look. Garbed in the striking heritage gown, the LA Love singer commanded attention on the red carpet. The hot mama surely did channel her inner oomph on the red carpet.

Selena Gomez

Gomez wore a Giorgio Armani Prive dress, but she was outshined by the other divas in terms of her red-carpet glamour quotient. Her black body-con dress that read simple and slinky just didn’t make the cut. The black gown with a high neckline and long hemline was a fashion faux pas. The Heart Wants What It Wants songstress paired her dress with a statement bun and stacked bracelets, which added years to the 22-year-old’s look. Her orange drop earrings were perhaps the only gripping element of her ensemble.

Rita Ora

The singer was a ray of sunshine at the event. The 23-year-old turned up at the Awards gala in a floor-length Zac Posen Spring 2015 silk faille yellow origami gown. Although more in tune with the Academy Awards red carpet than the AMAs’, it was a striking number. Rita’s dramatic fishtail gown featured a huge train that made our jaws drop. The RIP singer pulled her hair up into a topknot in order to flaunt her gown. Keeping the accessories to a minimal and carrying a vintage Swarovski clutch, she showed off her freshly tanned skin and infectious smile.
