ANF operations: Four arrested, contraband seized

ANF intercepted a consignment at APX Courier Office containing car decoration pieces and recovered 335 grams of heroin

Officials of the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) Rawalpindi conducted an operation near the main bus stand in Attock City and recovered 1.5kg of hashish from an Afghan national, identified as Abdur Rehman.


ANF also intercepted a consignment at APX Courier Office containing car decoration pieces and recovered 335 grams of heroin from inside them. The consignment was dispatched by Nasir Jamal, a resident of Sialkot, and was intended for a recipient named John Cawley, a resident of Hudderfields, West Yorkshire, UK.

In another operation, ANF teams conducted an operation in Ali Pur Farash, Lehtrar Road, Islamabad and apprehended Ghulam Shabir along with 500 grams of hashish. According to initial reports, the suspect is involved in drug peddling at the local level. ANF also intercepted a passenger, identified as Naveed Masih, a resident of Mardan, at Benazir Bhutto International Airport who later confessed of having ingested heroin-filled capsules.

Masih was shifted to Benazir Bhutto Hospital, Rawalpindi for recovery of the capsules. He was to fly for Abu Dhabi by Shaheen Airlines.

ANF teams also seized a Toyota Corolla at Burhan Motorway Interchange, and recovered 8kg hashish concealed in secret cavities of the car. A suspected drug trafficker, identified as Shabir Shah Afridi a resident of Khyber Agency, was also held at the spot.

The contraband was contained in 16 packets. According to initial investigation, the suspect was coming from Peshawar and was on his way to Narowal for distribution of the drugs to a local supplier.

Cases have been registered against all the suspects at ANF police stations and investigations are under way, said an official.
