PESHAWAR:

Awami National Party has termed the rising incidents of target killings in the province an indication of the government’s apathy towards the serious issue.

In a joint statement issued on Wednesday, ANP Central President Asfandyar Wali Khan, K-P President Amir Haider Hoti and Central General Secretary Mian Iftikhar Hussain condemned the targeted murder of ANP activist Malik Jehanzeb Khan in Peshawar.

According to the statement, the ANP leadership termed Malik Jehanzeb’s killing an example of deteriorating law and order in K-P which the provincial government has failed to control.

The provincial government’s apathy is aggravating the situation day by day and target killers are becoming more organised and have increased their activities, added the statement.

There seems to be no rule of law in the province and people’s lives are at stake, but the incumbent government is sitting with serenity as if everything is going well, it further said. Khan, an ANP activist and property dealer, was shot dead by unidentified people on Charsadda Road on Tuesday.
