GHALLANAI:

The Youth Council of Mohmand Agency has called for the immediate enactment of the FATA Youth Policy and implementation of the Local Government Regulation 2012 so that power can be transferred to the lowest echelons of society.

The demand was raised at consultative meetings organised by a local non-governmental organisation at the Mohmand and Bajaur press clubs. The meetings were attended by political leaders, FATA Secretariat representatives and the youth of the area.

The NGO has started an advocacy campaign called Initiative for Change through FATA Youth Development, emphasizing the need to implement the FATA Local Government Regulation 2012.

Participants of the meeting vowed to play an active role in the campaign and provide a competitive environment to the youth of the tribal areas. They appealed to relevant policymakers to include the youth’s charter of demands in the draft policy and implement it immediately.

‘Be heard’

FATA Lawyers Forum President Ijaz Mohmand told the audience in Mohmand Agency that the youth can exploit their talent to the best of their abilities if given the right opportunity. He said it was time to provide them an interactive environment.

He appreciated the struggle of the youth and advised them to build a strong team to effectively raise their voice in Fata.

A similar meeting took place around a month ago when politicians showed their support for the early implementation of the FATA Youth Policy and FATA Local Government Regulation 2012.
