Lahore High Court’s Complaint Cell on Friday directed the Hafizabad district police officer to submit a report regarding steps police had taken to arrest the suspects accused of kidnapping a girl from a village near Pindi Bhattian.
The complaint cell took notice of police inaction on an application filed by the girl’s mother. Shagufta Bibi, a resident of Pindi Bhattian, said Amjad Ali, Mamoor Khan, Muhammad Afzal and Noor Muhammad had kidnapped her daughter from her house on August 18.
She said that she had filed a complaint with the police but they had so far done nothing to recover her daughter. She said her daughter came home some time later claiming that Amjad Ali had forced her to marry him but she had managed to flee.
Shagufta Bibi said that her daughter had recorded a statement to this effect before a magistrate as well. She lamented the police inaction in arresting the suspects.
