The home side were defeated comfortably by 124 runs in the opening match, thanks largely to a Marlon Samuels century. However, West Indies were unable to hammer home the advantage as they made a meal of relatively simple 264-run chase, losing their final eight wickets for just 45 runs to allow India back into the series.
The third match of the series was cancelled due to a cyclone, ending Indian hopes of finishing the series as the number one side in the world.
The series holds extra importance due to the upcoming World Cup and both sides will be hoping to address the problems in their squads before heading for Australia.
The defending champions are playing their last home series before the World Cup. They will then head south to Australia to play a tri-series with Australia and England before kicking off their World Cup defence against arch-rivals Pakistan.
West Indies, meanwhile, travel to South Africa to take on the Proteas before the World Cup.
