ATC-I remanded on Saturday accused Syed Ahmed Hasan in a murder case

KARACHI: An Anti-Terrorism Court-I (ATC-I) remanded on Saturday accused Syed Ahmed Hasan to police custody till October 18 in a murder case. Police produced Hasan before the judge under tight security. The investigation officer requested the court to allow the physical remand of the accused so that the police could carry out further investigations to learn the whereabouts of his accomplices Kashif, Abbas, Khan Saab and Rehan, and arrest them. The court accepted the request and remanded the accused to police custody. According to the prosecution, the accused was involved in the murder of Dr Naseem Jafery on August 27 within the limits of Korangi Industrial Area police. Hasan had earlier been arrested in an explosive materials case under FIR 369/14. The murder case, FIR 346/2014, was registered under Section 302 (premeditated murder) and Section 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code, along with Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act at the Korangi Industrial Area police station.
