KARACHI: Army is the last ray of hope for all the oppressed people who had been victimised in the country, MQM chief Altaf Hussain said addressing the Coordination Committee on Wednesday. When some members of the committee drew his attention towards the reservation being shown by certain quarters over his 14 questions addressed to the Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, Altaf said that he respects the army for its countless sacrifices for the country. He said, if certain elements were violating the dignity of the army by wearing its uniform, it was the duty of every true Pakistani to point it out. He said the valiant soldiers were engaged in a fierce battle with the terrorists in North Waziristan, helping the IDPs and those affected by devastating floods. Altaf said people look towards their own people in time of need and distress. He said he looked upon the Pakistan Army as its protector like any other Pakistani. Altaf apologised if his words had hurt the feelings of anyone.
