In broad daylight: Traffic constable gunned down

The attackers managed to escape from the crime scene.

PESHAWAR: A head constable of the traffic police was killed by suspected militants while he was on duty in Chungi Chowk on Friday.

Police said Ihsanullah was shot at the busy chowk which lies within the jurisdiction of Bhanamari police station while he was on duty.

The attack left him severely injured.

Ihsanullah was rushed to Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) where he succumbed to his injuries.

The attackers managed to escape from the crime scene.

“We are investigating the matter. Some people say the attackers were in a car while others say they were on motorbikes but we are trying to figure it out,” a police official told The Express Tribune.

“It is without any doubt an incident of target killing,” he added.
