KARACHI:

Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) President Abdullah Zaki has strongly condemned the assault of Punjab police on Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) President Shaban Khalid.

“President of all regional chambers are law-abiding citizens and are totally impartial towards the ongoing sit-ins in Islamabad,” he said.

“It’s highly unfair to pull a respectable businessman like Shaban Khalid out of his car, misbehave with him and manhandle him,” Zaki said.

He said such an act was a blow to the respect and dignity of the business community. He urged Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan to take notice of the incident and take strict action against the concerned police officers.

“It is the responsibility of the government to ensure respect, dignity and protection to leaders of the business community,” he added.

A few days ago, ICCI president Khalid was attacked by police at a checkpoint.
