Iqbal defeated Abu Saim 4-2 to finish first in his group with four points, recording the best frame difference of +9 at the championship in the process. He will next face Sohail Shehzad in the knock-out round on Monday.
Meanwhile, Sohail overcame Amir Tariq 4-3 to book his place among the top 16, whereas Asif Toba suffered a 4-3 defeat against Aakash Rafique, but managed to top the pool with two points.
Hamza Akbar, Shahram Changezi, Rambail Gul, Abdul Sattar and Muhammad Sajjad will also play the round of 16.
Former International Billiards and Snooker Federation World Champion Muhammad Asif finished second in his group with three points while Imran Shehzad and Muhammad Majid Ali finished as the top two players from their group.
