Veteran Sajjad advances in snooker event

Cueist downs Mehmood 4-2 in national championship.

Seasoned campaigner Muhammad Sajjad enjoyed an easy outing against Sharjeel Mehmood, winning 4-2 on day four of the 6th NBP Ranking Snooker Championship, which is being played at the NBP Sports Complex, Karachi.


Both cueists hit breaks of over 100 points before Sajjad won with scores of 88-11, 101-38(101), 48-83, 0-126(103), 69-42 and 61-24.

In other matches, Shahram Changezi beat Muhammad Ishtiaq 4-2 while youngster Muhammad Majid Ali won in similar fashion against Babar Masih with a scoreline of 87-10, 34-82, 50-64, 39-13, 70-26 and 67-34.

Zulfiqar Qadir and Abu Saim won in straight frames against Sultan Muhammad and Farhan Noor respectively.

And Shahid Aftab’s resilient fightback went in vain as he lost 4-3 to Yasir Shehzad, despite coming back from 3-0 down in the match. Veteran Muhammad Yousuf routed Amir Tariq 4-1, while Haris Nadeem won 4-3 against Nauman Awan.
