Health awareness: SMS service started to control dengue

LGH intensifies awareness campaign to fight dengue fever.

Post Graduate Medical Institute Principal Anjum Habib Vohra said on Monday that an SMS service had been launched to convey dengue fever related messages to various political and social organisations, and health and media officials.


Talking to newsmen, he said that the Post Graduate Medical Institute had launched the initiative on the direction of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

He said the Lahore General Hospital had intensified the public awareness campaign on preventive measures against dengue fever.

He said training workshops and seminars were being held regularly to raise awareness on the importance of maintaining hygienic conditions under the Health Education Programme.

He said the hospital staff was taking part in the dengue awareness drive.

Vohra said that a desk to address public complaints had been set up at the emergency and outdoor wards to guide and inform attendants of patients about dengue fever.

He said the LGH had been divided in zones to ensure comprehensive cleanliness and sanitation.

He said additional medical superintendents and deputy medical superintendents had been tasked to monitor various hospital blocks.

He said the hospital administration was alert and was working on stopping accumulation of rain water.

He said the Works Department and sanitary workers had been issued necessary instructions to maintain cleanliness.

He said action would be taken against those found shirking duty.
