Ignored warnings: Lightning kills two, injures six

The Met department has said only light rain is expected Sunday and there is no danger of floods.

Two people were killed while six others were injured in a thunderstorm in the city on Sunday.


Rescue 1122 spokesperson Bilal Ahmad Faizi said people in Hazar Khwani were busy in a Kabaddi match when they were struck by lightning.

They were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital where Attaur Rehman and Jahanzeb were pronounced dead, said Faizi. “Allahdad and Usman were admitted while the other injured people were discharged after first aid.”

Heavy clouds hovered over Peshawar and surrounding areas on Sunday. However, the Met department has said only light rain is expected Sunday and there is no danger of floods.
