In a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations, it “categorically rejected the assertions that Army and ISI were not backing the protesters.”
“Army is an apolitical institution and has expressed its unequivocal support for democracy at numerous occasions.”
The statement added that it was unfortunate that Army was being dragged into such controversies.”
“Integrity and unity of the Army is its strength which it upholds with pride.”
The army’s statement came after PTI President Javed Hashmi had alleged that there was some possible support to the PTI and PAT supporters.

Pak military is there to root out terrorists and defend Pak borders against external threats. Police is assigned to enforce the law within the borders on the order of govt including arresting trouble makers and removing sit-ins. Do not blame army for govt's own weakness and short sight. @drwaheeduddin
@Bilal: The problem is not the 46 crore rupee watch, but the fact that it is bought with the money extorted from the poor people of Pakistan.
Its amazing how many times Army had to clear its point of view, but instead of appreciating these dumb champions of democracy keep on inciting them. I don't understand whenever NS comes in power our military gets surrounded with controversies. NS himself is an enemy of democracy in Pakistan.
It is clear Mush is financing Imran Khan and Tahirul Canadi and army is fully committed to supporting Mush.
@Ch. Allah Daad: Thugs & killers are in government. Those people are seeking Justice for the killing of their relatives. Use your brain if you have
Army as an institution comes under constitution and takes oath to protect and uphold it. Its obligatory for them to take orders from the government and its again obligatory for them to restore order and prevent mobocracy, anarchy spewed by street urchins. Yesterday what happened at PTV with no arrests directed by the army means they did not do what they should have done. What else to expect from an ISPR press release? BTW who was that 3rd empire all along in the dhandli khan's "kind" references?
I just want everyone to answer a simple question: If Army is with democracy & constitution then why they didn't arrest the trespassers/mob who entered and damaged the PTV building?? They just allowed them to get out on the streets and destroy the public property. What is this?? More than 30 years of Army rule in the country yet they still insist on calling themselves an "apolitical" institution.
@Jibran: Sir don't drag unnecessary Nawaz, this is claimed by your PTI present don't lose brain like your leader.
@ch Allah daad
yes nation is not a bunch of stupid people and nation dont support these so called pmln, they dont have a mandate and they came to power because west know it will protect thier right, and also we dont want a PM, who wears a wrist watch worth 46 crore. go nawaz go.
Army's commitment with democracy is a great gesture but in present situation its not enough. Everybody is with democracy including those thugs who are destroying buildings and have hijacked whole Pakistan for the last 18 days. If army is with democracy then it should immediately take action against these thugs and drag them out of the capital. Actions speak louder than words and so far your actions do not corroborate your words. Nation is not a bunch of stupid people.
PMLN is destroying all institutions. It's ministers in connivance with Geo are behind this smear campaign against army. One year on, and Nawaz can't get out of his delusions.
