Supremacy of constitution: Sherpao vows to protect democracy

Vowing to protect democracy, QWP said on Friday that his party wanted the Constitution to be upheld.

Vowing to protect democracy, Qaumi Watan Party Chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao said on Friday that his party wanted the Constitution to be upheld and the democratic system strengthened. “All the opposition parties lent support to the federal government in order to strengthen democracy and uphold the Constitution,” he told a meeting of party leaders. QWP parliamentary leader Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao, Justice (retd) Shah Jehan Khan, Advocate Jamil, Hashim Babar, Haji Ghufran, Asad Afridi, Advocate Kifayat Ali, Miraj Humayun and Tariq Ahmad Khan attended the meeting. Sherpao said the situation in Islamabad could have been averted, but mistakes were made by both sides. “We feel that the issues should be resolved amicably under the Constitution,” he urged.
