JAMRUD:

Electricity has been suspended in various areas of Jamrud, Khyber Agency due to inclement weather since the past one week.

The heavy rain and windstorms uprooted electricity pylons in Bakarabad and Ghundi, plunging the areas in darkness.

Residents said they were suffering from various problems as a result of the outage and accused the political administration of not taking any remedial steps.

They said officials of the political administration and the Tribal Electric Supply Company (Tesco) were approached time and again, but the pleas fell on deaf ears.

The locals said they are now facing an acute shortage of water and women have to fetch it from far-flung areas or purchase it from private dealers. They threatened to stage a sit-in if power is not restored in the next two days.
