Minister says four million people to get jobs

Provincial Minister for Excise, Taxation and Finance Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman has said 4 million jobs will be provided

LAHORE: Provincial Minister for Excise, Taxation and Finance Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman has said four million jobs will be provided while two million people would be trained in a bid to make them self-sufficient to earn livelihood. The minister said that the Punjab government wanted to improve the growth rate of the province up to eight percent in the next four years, which would pull more than seven million people out of the poverty line. He said 95% discretionary funds are spent on treatment and financial help of poor people. He said 36% of the development budget had been allocated for South Punjab. He said the government’s priority was the education and health sectors and the development budget of the current fiscal year was 17% more as compared to the previous year. He said power generation and elimination of load-shedding were foremost priorities and 1,320 megawatts of electricity would be available after the completion of the Sahiwal power plant.
