Spreading fear: Khasadar official, Afghan national kidnapped in Khyber

BDU defuses bomb planted adjacent to a state-run school in Jamrud.

JAMRUD: Two people, including a khasadar official, were kidnapped by unidentified gunmen from Shahzaman Kalay on Sunday.

A political administration official said Mursaleen, a khasadar official, and Rahim Wali, an Afghan national, were travelling in a car when they were intercepted by armed men. They were both abducted at gunpoint and the vehicle was also taken.

The khasadar force set up check posts in the area and started searching passing vehicles, but none of the kidnapped men were recovered till the filing of this report.

Kidnappings for ransom have increased significantly in Sor Kamar, Hawaldari Chowki, Zaman Kalay and Tedi Bazaar of Jamrud tehsil, spreading fear among the locals.

Meanwhile, the bomb disposal unit (BDU) of Khyber Rifles defused a bomb planted near the Government Girls Primary School (GGPS) in the Mandokhel area of Jamrud.

A political administration official said based on a tip-off, a bomb was found near the GGPS, Ghundi. He mentioned a search operation was under way, but no arrests had been made till the filing of this report.
