Tragedy: Two killed, 15 injured in AJK road accident

The injured were shifted to the district headquarters hospital in Mansehra

At least two people were killed and 15 others injured when a jeep carrying devotees from Azad Jammu and Kashmir veered off the road in Balakot, some 50-kilometre from here.


According to police, the jeep carrying 17 people from village Changan in the Neelum Valley was coming back from Naaran Raydi Shrine in Balakot, when it met the incident due to speeding.

The injured were shifted to the district headquarters hospital in Mansehra and the Ayub Medical College Abbottabad for treatment. Doctors said that five persons have been brought in critical condition.

The deceased were identified as Khawaja Shabir and Jahangir Malik, whose bodies were sent to their ancestral place for burial.

Meanwhile, AJK acting Prime Minister Chaudhry Muhammad Yaseen offered condolences to the bereaved families. He also announced Rs300,000 each to the families of the deceased and Rs10,000 to Rs150,000 for the injured .
