KARACHI: Egypt defeated Pakistan in the World Junior Squash Team Championship final for the third consecutive time, winning the match 2-0 in Windhoek, Namibia on Thursday.

Six-time tournament runners-up, Pakistan lost the event to Egypt in 2012 and 2013. The country has also won the championship on four occasions.  The order for Thursday’s final was split among three seeds, with Pakistan’s Tayyab Aslam and Egypt’s Omar el Atmas matched as top seeds. El Atmas clinched the first two hotly contested frames, building a 2-0 lead. While Tayyab came back in the third frame, el Atmas came out on top in the fourth, winning the match 3-1.

Pakistan’s hopes then depended on second seed Bokhari, who fought gallantly in a five-frame match but lost to Egypt’s Youssef Aboul-Makarim 3-2. After going down in the first two frames, Bokhari was able to level the match at 2-2. However, Youssef came back strong in the final frame and won his team the title.
