Pre-empting terror: Police arrest four suspected militants

ISLAMABAD:

Islamabad Police claimed to have arrested four members of Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) from the suburbs of the capital on Thursday.

Police and Rangers conducted a joint operation and arrested four outlaws belonging to TTP from Sihala, said Additional Inspector General (AIG) Operations Sultan Azam Temuri.

The official claimed that the operation was conducted on information provided by intelligence sources regarding the presence of militants in the area.

Due to the ongoing military operation in North Waziristan the interior ministry had directed capital police to beef up security in order to avoid any untoward incident.

The official also claimed that Rangers had recovered two AK-47 rifles, mobile phones and some documents.

The police official refused to share the names of the arrested people.

The suspects were shifted to an undisclosed location for further interrogation.
