PESHAWAR:

A Pakistan Air Force (PAF) staffer and a police constable were shot dead in separate targeted homicides in the city on Tuesday.

Amir Shahzad, a resident of Tariqabad, Kakshal, was gunned down in Kocha Malik Wazir early morning. At 7:30am, he was on his motorcycle heading to the PAF base when men on motorcycles came up to him and sprayed him with bullets, killing him on the spot. An official of Yakatoot police station told The Express Tribune that Amir Shahzad was currently serving as an assistant warrant officer in the PAF. An FIR has been registered against unidentified men and the police official said that it was, without a doubt, a target killing.

Separately, Frontier Reserve Police (FRP) constable Adnan, a resident of Rashid Garhi, Yakatoot, was killed while on guard duty outside the residence of former FRP Deputy Commandant Gul Wali Khan in Gulbahar in the afternoon.

“The ill-fated constable, Adnan, was outside the house with his AK-47 rifle and in plainclothes when three attackers opened fire on him with their 9mm pistols,” said an official of Gulbahar police station, adding the attackers also took away the constable’s rifle.

“They were riding a red Honda 125 motorcycle,” he added, saying that two more constables were also on duty inside the house but the attackers fled by the time they rushed out.

The then-FRP Deputy Commandant Gul Wali was shot and injured in an ambush in the same area last year as he was on his way to office. Wali’s guard was killed and he is still being treated himself.
