Official scheme: Over 12,000 govt employees to get plots, apartments

A total of 12,700 federal government employees, registered with the Ministry of Housing and Works, will get plots and flats in Bhara Kahu and sectors G-13 and F-14.


An official of the Federal Government Employees Housing Federation (FGEHF) said that about 22,000 employees have registered themselves under the government scheme to provide housing to government servants since 2009.

He said the membership drive was initiated with an aim to overcome housing backlog which has left many employees without residences.

He said all the registered employees will get plots or apartments in the next phases.

Of 12,700 employees, around 3,500 will get plots in Bhara Kahu, 2,200
will be handed over apartments in Sector G-13 and 7,000 employees will get possession of their plots in Sector F-14.

Regarding the mechanism of ownership, the official said all the newly-constructed residences will be disposed of accordingly on the basis of submitted lists while new aspirants will be accommodated on updated lists.

Different categories of residences will be handed over to registered employees.

The membership drive was started in 2009 for employees of the federal government, and autonomous and semi-autonomous bodies. FGEHF is allotting plots and apartments on a first-come, first-served basis.
