RAWALPINDI:

Punjab government has set up 39 Ramazan Bazaar in four districts of the Rawalpindi division. Of these, 19 bazaars have been established in Rawalpindi district, eight in Chakwal, and six each in Attock and Jhelum districts.

Rawalpindi division Commissioner Zahid Saeed said edible items including vegetables, fruit, mutton, beef and poultry products are being provided to the public at controlled prices. The Ramazan Bazaars also have utility stores. Saeed said the government has ensured supply of the edible items for Ramazan Bazaars.

He said the authorities have constituted special teams to check profiteering and hoarding at Ramazan Bazaars as well as in open markets.

He said the officials have been directed to round up profiteers and register cases against them instead of just imposing fines.

The commissioner said district price control committees and price control magistrates are also checking the violations. He said a 10-kilogram bag of flour is being sold at Rs310 at Ramazan Bazaars while it costs Rs330 in open market.

People can lodge complaints about rate list violations on toll free number 0800-02345.
