Tayyab Aslam receives cash award

Pakistan squash player given Rs50,000 for winning Junior Asian Championship.

KARACHI: Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) President Tahir Rafique Butt awarded a cash prize of Rs50,000 to newly-crowned champion Tayyab Aslam for his victory in the 21st Asian Junior Individual Squash Championship that was held in Iran.

Tayyab, Asim Khan, Israr Ahmed and Darosham Khan, along with coach Gogi Alauddin, made up the Pakistan contingent that participated in the event.

In the U19 final, Tayyab defeated India’s Kush Kumar to claim the gold medal, while Israr and Asim lost in the semi-finals and quarter-finals respectively.

Butt appreciated Tayyab for bringing laurels to the country. He also lauded the efforts of the PSF’s coaching staff for providing proper training and guidance to the Pakistani squad.

The official reiterated that the PSF would continue sponsoring top squash players for improving their world ranking.
