ISLAMABAD:

Another bushfire broke out on Sunday afternoon on the Margalla Hills near Talhar village, which was put out after an hour’s struggle.

The CDA has lodged a first information report over the incident, accusing five unidentified persons from Talhar village, whom the authority believes were involve in the incident.

“We tried to catch the locals who set the bushes on fire, but they managed to escape,” said an environment wing official. He said losses caused by the fire had not yet been determined.

It was the third fire recorded by the CDA environment wing within the last 48 hours.

Two separate fires were recorded earlier on Friday night and Saturday morning near Dera Jangla area near Trail 5 on the Margalla Hills.

CDA Environment Member Mustafain Kazmi said sufficient arrangements had been made that year to avoid any major loss to the environment due to bushfires, which usually take place in the hot summer season.
