LAHORE: The Health Department says 292 union councils (UC) in the province are at “high risk” for polio. Extended Programme for Immunisation (EPI) Additional Director Nazir Hussain said an anti-polio drive had been launched in these UCs. He said children in those areas were given polio drops at 63 points. “The country will be polio-free by the end of 2014,” he told APP. He said millions of children under the age of five had been vaccinated against polio through 22 campaigns last year. He said seminary students and those settling in the Punjab from other provinces were also being vaccinated.
