KARACHI:

The Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) decided that its new, 100-acre campus in Education City will follow international standards.

The finance and planning committee of the university held a meeting on Friday at its conference room with vice-chancellor Dr Muhammad Ali Shaikh, who presided over the meeting. It was observed that SMIU needs a world-class campus where education can be imparted to not only students from Pakistan but also those from across the world.

The members discussed the master plan of the Malir campus, which was prepared by two architect and town-planning firms. The representatives of the firms gave presentations before the meeting and it was decided that, once the plan has been approved by the relevant authorities, the PC-1 will be prepared for the first phase of the development scheme. The document will be submitted to the Sindh government and the Higher Education Commission for funding.
