PESHAWAR: Senator Azam Khan Hoti submitted an application with the police against his son, former chief minister (CM) Amir Haider Khan Hoti, saying Amir tried to stop him from entering Hoti House in Mardan on Thursday.

Sheikh Maltoon SHO Bashirdad Khan told The Express Tribune that Azam’s application stated he was attempting to enter his house on Thursday morning when Amir stopped him. Bashirdad added some relatives had intervened and convinced Azam to not go home and avoid an expected dispute.

Later, Azam went to Sheikh Maltoon police and submitted an application against his son in order to take legal action against him.

The application has been forwarded to the Mardan DPO and DIG.

On behalf of Azam, Farhad Khawar stated the former CM stopped his father from entering Hoti House with the help of armed guards.

However, Awami National Party’s district president Himayatullah Mayar contradicted Khwar, saying although there is a family dispute between both the Hotis, they are trying to resolve the issue.

Mayar went on to add there were no armed guards who stopped Hoti senior. Instead, he said, Azam had brought armed men with him, prompting Amir to ask for police protection.

It was earlier reported the dispute between both the Hotis is over the fourth marriage of Azam. Amir claimed it was merely a family issue, not a political one.
