BANNU: Three security officials were killed while two others were injured in an IED explosion in FR Bannu on Thursday morning.
According to a security official the incident occurred in Seen Tanga Towda Chena area of FR Bannu. The security officials were patrolling in the area when an IED device planted by unknown militants went off at around 10:30am, he said.
The deceased security officials were identified as Nasir Ali, Jaffar and FC official Muzafar while the injured include Captain Obaid and Sepoy Safarash.
He added that the vehicle of the security officials was also badly damaged in the blast. The injured were rushed to CMH Bannu while a search operation was under way after the incident in the area.
However, no one has claimed the responsibility for the attack.
Previous blasts in Fata
At least eight people, including three policemen were injured, when a bomb strapped on to a motorcycle exploded in Bannu on May 16. Five kilogrammes of homemade explosives had been planted beneath the seat of the motorcycle and detonated through a remote control.
On May 8, a remote-controlled bomb blast in the Ghulam Khan tehsil of North Waziristan Agency had left eight officials of the security forces dead and four others injured. A convoy of security forces was the target of the blast.
A roadside bomb had exploded in the same tribal agency on April 27, killing at least three soldiers. The attack had occurred in an area on the border of South and North Waziristan tribal regions.
In May last year, two security personnel were injured in a remote-controlled bomb explosion in the Frontier Region (FR) Jani Khel, Bannu.

Just recently I heard Pakistan's former Diplomat, Zafar Hilali, suggesting on live TV that Pakistan should allow TTP to rule FATA and Waziristan. He said that Pakistan's army will not be able to retake these regions and handing them over these regions may prevent taliban influence spreading to other areas. He said all these after asking the anchor and listeners to hear him carefully. And, this person has represented Pakistan ????????? The media gives these types space and the anchor dies not even counter him ?????? No one gets even a bit angry and they all keep silent or smiling !!!! Someone saying openly on TV to give away part of the country and getting away with it !!!! These can happen only in Pakistan. They do the same thing with Hamid Gul also. The media introduces him as an intellectual, a "Gehri Nazar Rakhne Wala" and a patriotic Pakistani ?????? For the Hamid Gul types what matters most is that keeping the terrorists causes some harm to India and Afghanistan. They are least worried at the several hundred folds of damage these terrorists are causing to Pakistan itself. What to talk of IK and the damage he has done to Pakistan??? And, he came to power because Gen. Pasha engineered defections of prominent persons like Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Javed Hashmi and even Asad Umar to PTI. After doing all these Gen. Of late, I am finding Zaid Hamid talking more sense than these types. He advocated crushing TTP. Never mind he calls them Indian Agents. All others call TTP as working for India but also keep supporting them.
First and foremost, we send our condolences to the friends and families of the brave soldiers who lost their lives in this act of terror. We hope that they will find the strength to deal with this loss. Our nations are fighting a common war in the region, and our brave soldiers continue to lay their lives down while protecting their countries. We salute and commend every brave soldier on both sides of the border who died in fighting terrorism. The terrorists have been unable to break our shared will and desire to defeat terrorism. We refuse to accept terrorists’ evil ideology and continue to move ahead with regards to restoring peace in the region. The recent parting of the TTP factions clearly suggests that pressure is mounting on their end. We have every reason to remain optimistic in regards to achieving our shared peace objectives. We are working closely with our Pakistani counterparts and have full confidence in their ability to negate the threat of terrorism from country.

Kashmir is another thing. A freedom movement is going on there. FATA came under Pakistan alliance on their own people's and rulers' will. And now "foreign handlers" are putting all their resources in there to break Pakistan again. Whats happening in Kashmir is your own incompetency. You have like 500,000 soldiers deployed there and you still can't control? The stories that emerge are completely "your own home made" stuff.
I have answered to you comment in the scenario that you are from India and asking about what happens to Indian forces more or less in the same way as happening in FATA.

other countries use fire crackers 1-2 occasions annually for celebrations (new year, games etc) but in Pakistan this long lasting celebration goes on daily basis. what a mess.

I read your comments on almost every article of Tribune. Please stop acting like Aql-e-Qul on every damn topic.
Sons of soil are the reason we are able to live our lives the way we are in every city of Pakistan. We wish them success and hope the menace in FATA is taken out sooner than later whether it takes carpet bombing or surgical air strikes. Thats good for us and the region.
RIP our soldiers and may Allah SWT put some Aql in people like you who keep defending places that you never have visited.
Govt was too soft on these terrorists. Keeping them in jail for sometime and releasing later will not help. Whether x or y terror is terror. Pakistan should launch a final war
