Life threats: Teacher attacked by extortionists

Shaista reported that a group of extortionists had been threatening her.

Two people, including a schoolteacher, were critically injured when unidentified motorcyclists opened fire at them in Charsadda district on Wednesday.


Shaista, a resident of Chitral Koruna, reported to the police that her car was fired at on Wednesday morning while she was on her way to school along with her brother, Haroon. Both siblings sustained severe injuries near Kala Dher and were rushed to District Headquarters Hospital.

Shaista reported that a group of extortionists had been threatening them, saying they would kill her if she did not pay. Shaista’s brother, Waseem Akbar, said while talking to the media that they had filed an FIR at the city police station about the threats, but the police had failed to take preemptive action. “The police had not done anything till this incident occurred,” Akbar said.
