The Pakistan Broadcasting Association (PBA) on Monday denounced the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) and the Punjab police for ‘crossing all legal boundaries’ in their support for Geo TV.

According to Express News, the PBA, in a statement, demanded that Pemra stop its officers from carrying out illegal actions.

The PBA said the Punjab police had been issued instructions about certain television channels. It added that the IGP Punjab had written a letter to police officials, asking them to strictly monitor some TV networks.

The PBA said the IGP had also ordered close monitoring of cable operators. It added that cable operators show TV channels according to the viewers’ choice but in some areas the police pressurised them and made them to change the order of a specific channel.
