Rangers raid: 3 TTP members arrested in Karachi

KARACHI: Three members of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were arrested during a raid by Rangers personnel in Karachi, Express News reported on Tuesday.

According to Rangers officials, the search was conducted in the Quaidabad area of the city after receiving a tip-off regarding the presence of TTP members in the neighbourhood.

During the raid, the TTP members opened fire which led to retaliatory firing from the Rangers personnel. The three members were subsequently arrested.

Various weapons as well as hand grenades were also seized during the operation. It was reported that these three members were wanted by the police in various criminal cases.

It really frustrates me when people bring provinces into this. Our armed forces and law enforcement agencies are fighting and dying in all provinces trying to protect the rest of us. Stop this province-promotion/bashing non-sense, please.

If the three TTP members opened fire on Rangers personnel, killing them on the spot in retaliatory firing is legally fully justifiable. Why not do that instead of putting them through a useless court process which will eventually let them off with hardly a warning.

This is the main reason why the so-called Karachi operation is a failure - the Rangers enter and search the homes of innocent people who have no choice but to cooperate but go soft on actual criminals who have the guts to fire back.
