Villagers said Maulana Taoos of Balyani village in Kandar tehsil suspected his daughter, 17-year-old Zubaida, of having an affair with a relative in Karachi.
On Saturday night, he reportedly subjected her to severe torture, forcing her to confess. After Fajr prayers on Sunday, the maulana shot her dead with an AK-47. Zubaida was later buried by villagers.
Coordinator for the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan Zahid Khan condemned the incident and said Torghar still has centuries-old traditions which have claimed the lives of several men and women in the name of honour. Police have yet to register a criminal case against the accused who fled the village after the incident as no one has lodged a complaint.

@sid: Even if it was wrong of her to have an affair it doesn't justify his beating her and killing her. Such matters should be taken by a court. In my opinion, if she is sleeping with someone she is in effect married to him. The ceremony of marriage only makes that official.
@sid: i gave a reply to sid regarding on what basis does he think this is okay b/c it def not islam & its not showing up?
It's murder. Regardless of whether someone lodged a complaint, he should be taken to court and tried for his crime.
I know a youngster who ran away with a girl. Their parents found them, asked a moulvi what to do. The moulvi said a simple nikkah would be best because they confessed to doing the deed. The End. I don't understand what kind of person's first thought is to kill someone. Thank goodness we were born in families who weren't raised around guns and another's life is a precious commodity for us to protect.
