Mamnoon meets UN envoy: Pakistan working for AIDS prevention

President urges the international community to help in reducing risks of HIV and AIDS.

ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain on Friday urged the international community to help the developing and underdeveloped countries in reducing risks of HIV and AIDS by sharing knowledge and expertise. He was talking to United Nations Secretary General’s Special Envoy on HIV/AIDS in Asia & Pacific JVR Prasada Rao at the Presidency. Mamnoon acknowledged the support of the UN towards HIV/AIDS control and said the federal and provincial governments were fully alive to their responsibilities to work towards prevention and cure of the disease. He said the Ministry of National Health Services in collaboration with national and provincial AIDS Control Programme and international partners was taking steps for its prevention and cure. Rao appreciated the strong resolve of the government and the steps being taken for prevention and cure of the disease in Pakistan.
