One more arrested in weapons scam

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) arrested one more suspect in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s (K-P) notorious weapons scam, which also involved ex-IG Police Malik Naveed who was arrested in November 2013.


Zahid Iqbal was arrested for allegedly accepting a Rs10 million bribe from contractor Arshid Majeed, for promising to use his influence with NAB to close the inquiry into the Rs2.03 billion embezzlement case.

Wanted for his suspected involvement, Iqbal had gone into hiding after recognising the gravity of the situation. It was reported that during initial interrogations, the accused disclosed important information regarding the case, which will lead to further arrests. Iqbal will be presented before the Accountability Court Peshawar today (Tuesday).
