LAHORE:

The Transport Department and the Lahore Transport Company have launched the Punjab Transport Infrastructure Management System to facilitate public transport users across the province.

The new system will help people obtain information on bus terminals in all districts in the Punjab over their phones or computers.

“Commuters will now be able to plan their journeys in the province,” Lahore Transport Company Chairman Khawaja Ahmad Hassaan said at the inauguration of the service at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat on Friday.

Parliamentary Secretary for Transport Muhammad Nawaz Chohan, Transport Secretary Shaukat Ali, LTC CEO Khawaja Haider Latif, Transport Planning Unit Project Director Dr Syed Murtaza Bukhari and other senior officials were also present.

Ali said the Punjab Transport Infrastructure Management System will help the Transport Department plan developments across the Punjab. He said there are around 76,000 public transport vehicles on inter- and intra-city routes and around 371 bus terminals. He said information about 900 routes had been updated on the transport management system...they can be easily accessed on the website and android applications.

All bus terminals will be effectively monitored and feedback will be sought in order to bring further improvement to the transport system, he said.  It would not only benefit commuters, but also transport authorities, regional transport authorities and the LTC in taking important decisions regarding public transport.
