PESHAWAR:

A man was killed while two others were injured in a low-intensity bomb blast in Sarki Gate area early Wednesday morning. Shah Qabool police said the blast took place right outside the shop of a milk seller, Mushtaq Khan.

Mukhtiar and Mehwesh, residents of Mohallah Gul Bacha Jee, along with Rehmat, a resident of Kakshal, were injured in the incident. “The three injured persons were rushed to Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) where Mukthiar succumbed to his injuries,” said a police official. He added that around 500 grammes of high-quality explosives were used in the homemade device.

The small explosive device seemed to be part of an extortion tactic, but the three men were unfortunate to be present near at the time, the official said. The explosion caused panic among locals as the blast was heard across the city.
