In protest: Welfare board workers demand their salaries

PESHAWAR:

Employees of the Workers Welfare Board from across the province held a protest on Thursday over not receiving their salaries for the last five months. The employees were carrying placards and banners inscribed with slogans against the government for delaying the release of funds to pay their salaries.

While talking to journalists in front of Peshawar Press Club, Abu Bakar, an employee of the board in Charsadda, said thousands of employees have been deprived of their salaries for the past five months. He added the funds are available with the board but the government was using delay tactics. Another employee, Ayaz Khan, said the employees belonging to Nowshera and Swabi have been receiving their salaries on time as the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa chief minister and assembly speaker are from the two areas.

A female teacher from DI Khan said they regularly go for their duty despite not having been paid their dues but it is now getting difficult.
