Sisters clinch gold medals in skiing competition

GILGIT: Two sisters – aged eight and 10 – won gold medals at a skiing competition held at Naltar Valley of Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B). Eight-year-old Sonia Afzal and her elder sister Asma Afzal grabbed gold in separate competitions organised by the Pakistan Air Force under the banner of the Chief of Air Staff Open Ski Championship on Sunday.

In other events, Khushim and Adiba Alam also won gold medals. In the men’s category, Altaf Hussain, Abdur Razaq and Zahid Abbas won gold. Vice Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Athar Hussain Bokhari, who is also the president of the Ski Federation of Pakistan, was the chief guest at the concluding ceremony. Adviser to G-B Chief Minister on Tourism, Sports and Culture Sadia Danish also attended the closing ceremony. The chief guest awarded medals and certificates to the winning skiers.
